“Sorbet Splat” is a vibrant, software-generated artwork created using Processing, inspired by the dynamic, physical expression of Jackson Pollock and the innovative approaches of Casey Reas. Curious about conserving and transforming expressive, movement-based art into a digital form, I incorporated my personal artistic preferences. The clusters in the composition—intentionally programmed to emerge in varying formations—represent random bursts of energy, echoing Pollock’s spontaneous strokes. To evoke a sense of joy and nostalgia, I selected a palette reminiscent of sorbet ice cream and Dippin’ Dots, with bright, playful hues that delight the eye. Every execution of the code generates a unique composition, as the randomized starting points and algorithmic variations ensure no two outputs are alike. This fluctuating nature captures the essence of creative spontaneity while demonstrating how digital art can preserve and reinterpret the spirit of traditional methods.
